Holidays Already?

November 13th, 2008

How fast did the stores switch over from Halloween to Christmas?  In the blink of an eye it seems.  Actually, I’ve noticed that the Holiday stuff started being displayed in early October in some stores and that really took me aback.  As a mom, often times seeing Christmas trees and other holiday decorations, means….stress!

Halloween

October 30th, 2008

As as kid, I used to LOVE Halloween and getting dressed-up in different costumes.  I think that was my favorite part about Halloween, not the candy.  But today, as an adult, for whatever reason, I can’t bring myself to put on a costume.

Hoping for some good one-on-one time with my oldest daughter Isabella (she’s in 5th grade) and realizing none of her jeans fit her anymore, we headed off to the mall yesterday. Read the rest of this entry »

Back To School Already

August 5th, 2008

I was at Target the other day looking for outdoor planters.  I headed to the back of the store where they always have them and lo and behold, the entire area had been transformed from patio furniture to pencils and notebooks. Read the rest of this entry »

One-On-One With My Husband

July 22nd, 2008

As you probably know, my girls have been in summer sleep-away camp for the last week and a half.  Though I miss them terribly, I have to say that I am enjoying the alone time as well as some one-on one time with my husband.  We’ve been going out to dinner almost every night to romantic restaurants, taking daytrips to the beach and just hanging out and having uninterrupted conversations and getting re-connected to the guy I fell in love with and married almost 14 years ago.

Vacation!

July 9th, 2008

I was looking forward to a little bit of “r and r” and spending quality time with my family on vacation.  Instead I got a broken down mini-van on the side of Route 80 in “Nowheresville, PA.”  Almost 5 hours into our trip our van lost all acceleration and had to pull off to the shoulder.  Our girls were very scared and crying and I have to say, I wasn’t to happy either–especially with all the roadkill on the side of a country highway!.  My husband and I told the girls that we were lucky that it was still daytime, not raining, not snowing, and anything else could think of to make the girls (and ourselves) feel better.  Indeed we were lucky that a state trooper showed up about 25 minutes later and stayed with us until a tow truck driver came.

Long story short, the problem with our trusty Sienna minivan was the dreaded “T” word.  Read the rest of this entry »

Summer Vacation

June 18th, 2008

Its that time of year again–summer vacation.  The kid in me still loves the thought of it.  Who can forget being off from school as a child, enjoying a lazy summer day and knowing you don’t have to be up early the next day for school.  I see that in my kids right now.  They’re so excited for the summer!  They’re both going away to sleep-away camp for the first time and they are anxiously awaiting for mid July to come when they’re off to Pennsylvania for two weeks.  I’m really going to miss them when they’re gone!  Its going to be so quiet, almost unbearably so sometimes, I’m sure.  What I AM looking forward to is having a clean house for two solid weeks!  When we get back after dropping them off at camp, I’m going to clean the house from top to bottom and look forward to walking in the house after the Morning Show and seeing that its STILL CLEAN!!!

Being a tourist in your home town

June 10th, 2008

I had my dad, brothers and nephew all come and visit us this past weekend. I had such a great time spending time with my father and re-discovering the city with my 6 year old nephew. We did all the “touristy” things that have been forever since I’ve done, like going to the Empire State Building Observation deck. walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and going to the Statue of Liberty. They even got to take-in a Yankee game on a very pleasant Friday night before the big heat wave. We’re so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful area in this world. You forget how cool it really is!
