Mother’s Day Gifts I Got

May 14th, 2009

I got what I wanted for Mother’s Day!  New sofas!!  Our furniture is falling apart and threadbare.  Its been 9 years of baby drool, active toddlers, a cat and now a tween–its been thru the wringer.  My husband was very resistant to getting new furniture for a long time until I finally said, “Honey, the only thing I want for Mother’s day this year is a new sofa.”  How could he say “no” to that!

What We Did During School Break

February 24th, 2009

This past mid-winter break/vacation for the girls was a tough one!  I was fortunate to be off for President’s Day so we went to my brother-in-laws place in the Poconos to “get away.”  We all really enjoyed the mountain air and stress-free time–we even went bowling one night!  Then it was back to work for me,  but the kids were still off.

When Your Kids Are Sick

February 1st, 2009

The last month has been tough with my daughters.  My oldest, Isabella, had a terrible cold that turned into bronchitis that seemed to last forever.  She seemed OK then as soon as she would get outside or do any kids of exercise, she’d start coughing like crazy and would take some time before the cough subsided.  She was unable to practice with her indoor soccer team and I know that really bummed her out.  No sooner was Isabella better when my youngest gets sick.  Bad cough, runny nose, fever, no energy–the whole nine.  She missed a couple of days of school, which can be very tough for working parents.  Just when we thought she was better, she develops a mysterious, excema-like rash on her elbows and chin which then spread to her hands and feet, which were very swollen and itchy.  Needless to say, I was VERY worried and concerned–she’s never had any allergies or skin issues.  Another day of missed school and off we went to the doctor–again.  Turns out it was a viral rash which could last for as long as a week or so and would possibly move around.  It spread to her eyelids and forehead and she looked terrible.  I really felt sorry for her but she took everything in stride.  And everyone was better.  For a day.  Then Mommy got sick :(

Holidays Already?

November 13th, 2008

How fast did the stores switch over from Halloween to Christmas?  In the blink of an eye it seems.  Actually, I’ve noticed that the Holiday stuff started being displayed in early October in some stores and that really took me aback.  As a mom, often times seeing Christmas trees and other holiday decorations, means….stress!

Halloween

October 30th, 2008

As as kid, I used to LOVE Halloween and getting dressed-up in different costumes.  I think that was my favorite part about Halloween, not the candy.  But today, as an adult, for whatever reason, I can’t bring myself to put on a costume.

Back To School Already

August 5th, 2008

I was at Target the other day looking for outdoor planters.  I headed to the back of the store where they always have them and lo and behold, the entire area had been transformed from patio furniture to pencils and notebooks. Read the rest of this entry »
