Halloween
As as kid, I used to LOVE Halloween and getting dressed-up in different costumes. I think that was my favorite part about Halloween, not the candy. But today, as an adult, for whatever reason, I can’t bring myself to put on a costume.
I always have excuses–I’m too busy to put together a costume, or that’s silly or whatever. Then a friend of mine said that the best part about getting dressed-up for Halloween was seeing her children’s faces when she first appeared with her costume on and that it brought them so much joy to see their mom in a totally different way.
That did it! I got dressed up for the first time ever as a “grown-up” for a friends Halloween party. I have to say it felt pretty good and yes, seeing my kids look of amazement and sheer joy when they saw me in my costume made it worth wearing the hot wig and caked on make-up.

I work in a store in the mornings and a couple of years ago we had a Halloween parade for the customer’s kids. They would go from dept. to dept. and someone would be waiting with a big bucket of candy. I helped lead the parade in the store dressed as the “Evil Queen” from Snow White. I actually had a disney book with me so I could get the make-up right. The costume was home-made and was very authentic. Not only did the kids love it, but my coworkers loved it as well. One of the ladies was dressed as a Candy Corn. It was awesome! She won 1st prize in the costume contest! One of the ladies took my picture and made up a calendar which I thought was great! See, so you’re never too old to dress up. It’s the only day you get to feel like a kid again!!!
