Maybe it’s the fact that I’m tired shoveling snow every couple of days or chopping ice or treating the driveway with ice pellets but winter on Long Island is really getting on my nerves. Yesterday the combination of snow ice and heavy rain was bad enough and then to top it all off the roof on my house began to leak in not one but 3 places! I’ll give you one guess who after clearing off the driveway and the sidewalk was on the roof in the pouring rains we had yesterday trying to put a tarp on the roof. Not Pretty! All I can tell you is there is a reason why I’m in radio. Bring on the sun and the mild temperatures. Spring can’t come fast enough for me.

So I’m tossed like most Long Islanders between what I want to do for my family this Christmas Season and what I can afford to do. I want to have a big Christmas Eve 7 course Fish feast and invite everybody I know, but in reality maybe it’s just my family this year. My wife and I (like most parents on Long Island) want to give our kids the world but this year it’s gonna be just a little different.

I watched the election results with great interest last night staying up way past my bedtime to see a gracious John McCain congratulate Barack Obama as the new President of the United States. In listening to President elect Obama thank the nation for their trust and support I couldn’t help but be proud in the way we as a nation got together and did what we had to do to make changes.

Can’t believe another Halloween is here and almost gone. I think back to how excited I was growing up in the early 70’s and walking around my neighborhood in Great Neck, eagerly anticipating the pillow case of candy I was about to receive. It seems to me that there were a lot more kids doing the door to door thing than they do today. Sure my Mom & Dad warned me of the dangers of eating the candy before they took a look at it but Halloween was a BIG day for us kids! Here’s hoping your children have as much fun as we did on Halloween.

I’ve been a big fan of motivational authors since I first heard Jim Rohn’s 5 keys to success in 1982. (A must listen) Since then I’ve discovered guys like Earl Nightingale, Bryan Tracy, Napoleon Hill and great ladies like Louise Hay too!
I bring this up because life recently on Long Island has gotten pretty tough. Read the rest of this entry »

Ever notice that our Autumns are kinda flat when it comes to the vibrant colors of Fall? Compared to Upstate NY where you’ll find mountain after mountain of reds, gold’s, and greens all mixed in almost perfect harmony, fall on Long Island is usually just brown… and then the leaves fall away. We do have some bright spots.
