I also stayed up way past my bedtime. I got 3 1/2 hrs sleep, getting up at 5 was no easy task this morning. But needless to say, it was well worth it!
I was following Obama's campaign since he faced off with Hillary. I am hopeful that he can pull this country out of the economic strain that we all have endured. He does have a tough job ahead of him but I have every confidence that he will do his best to make this country a better place for all. CONGRATULATIONS PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA!!

I believe they give the town accolades for hosting their events. It's just a nice way to say sorry for screwing up the traffic and making you late for your appts. It's the POLITICALLY correct thing to do! (Pun intended!)
Why is it when you look at a map of New York and you see Long Island, Brooklyn and Queens is part of Long Island but the people that live there don't thinks so. I grew up in New Hyde Park and moved to Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn for fifteen years and worked in the fishing industry. When I lived in Brooklyn the city people did not consider themselves part of Long Island. I never understood that. They would always say, Out on Long Island. And I would always say, this is Long Island! I know they are in the city limits, but it's still Long Island!! Someone want to explain that to me!

If you would have traveled a little further east on Old Montauk Highway (right where Swan Bakery is) going over the railroad tracks, the trees there are absolutely beautiful. So vibrant and crisp looking. It took my breath away when I saw them the other day. I travel that road all the time from my home in Shirley to my mom's in East Patchogue. I does offer some beautiful views.

It just sails by us Jay, that's why our Chamber of Commerce moved our event to September.
If the weather holds it gives everyone something cool to do after Labor Day.

We just closed the pool. Seems like yesterday we were opening it. Depressing for sure !

Looking forward to this Saturday at The Maples in Manorville, and some delicious homestyle pig at the Pig Roast.

Hey Jay,
I had a great summer too! Mine also started with The Eagles in May, The Doobies and Chicago at the Beach, The Steve Miller Band with Joe Cocker at the Beach, Melissa Etheridge at MSG theater, Maroon 5 with Counting Crows and Sara Bareilles at the Beach, the Beach Boys at Westbury and Rick Springfield in Oyster Bay at the Aboretum. I do love the ocean too, but was unable to get there as much as I would have liked to. I have this thing called WORK and it just seems to get in the way sometimes, but gotta pay the bills!
Anyway, I would love it if maybe you could try to get Rick Springfield's song,"Victoria's Secret" on the air. He put on an awesome show in Oyster Bay, not to mention I had a chance to meet him too! What a genuinely nice person he is! I loved his new song but don't hear it on the radio. I bet you would get more female listeners! At the concert, the women went nuts. (The husbands weren't too happy but oh well, we need our release too!)hahaha. I wish my doctor looked like him! hahaha
Well, I will miss summer but my winter is looking pretty good too! I just won Tina Turner tix on the Love Shack and I'm so excited! You guys are "SIMPLY THE BEST"!!
So thank you and lovin your station,
      Carol H

Summer was awesome! Started with Eagles concert at the end of May, Billy Joel concert in July, and the Beach Boys in August. In between all of those, there were trips to Montauk, weekends laying on the beach at Smith's Point, and trips to any place where there was water (Port Jeff, Sag Harbor) of and of course a week in Florida for vacation in August. The most depressing part of this time of year is covering the pool. That's when I know when it's really over. That's why it's not covered yet! And summer is not really "officially" over as of yet. I'm enjoying it while I can.

Love listening to you and Berni in the morning!

Jay:

A fellow Eagles fan and I find out that you're a Montauk fan also! How ironic!! My husband and I go to Montauk as much as we can every year. There is just something so magical about that place. We've been going there since my son was a baby (he is now 22). When we lived in Brooklyn some 18 years ago, we used to take the railroad out there (for we didn't need to own a car living in Brooklyn) and we used to pack pails, shovels, and even wheelbarrels for him! It was quite a trek but we didn't mind. When we moved out to the Island in 1990, it was even better. Driving there is the best part. Once you get passed Amagansett, and you can see the ocean in the distance and start to smell it, it's heaven. It just feels like home. We're actually going there this weekend. Our favorite place to eat lunch is at Nicks on South Emerson Avenue. It's off of Montauk Highway. They have a bar downstairs and upstairs there is an outside place to eat. Food is good, reasonable, the atmosphere is great, and the view is priceless! And if you want a great Eggplant Parmigiana hero, Pizza Village on Main Street absolutely makes it the best! Thanks for letting me share some of my favorite things about Montauk.

We just came back from our annual camping trip at Hither Hills. Besides the good old bbq cooking done at the campsite, we always make sure to get a meal in at Lenny's on the Dock. The kids love watching the seagulls swarm the fishing boats as they pull into the harbor to unload the fresh catch! The food is great and the service is wonderful!
Our trip to Montauk isn't complete unless it includes a good ole fashioned Banana Split from John's Drive-In!
