What’s Worse?

The past few days have brought us some unlikely heros, in a time when we truly need them.
Those fearless seamen on the Maersk Alabama are coming home as we take pride in their fight for freedom from Somali pirates last weekend. No one can forget the bravery of their Captain, Richard Phillips, or of our U.S. Navy Seals; job well done.
Over the past couple of days, I, perhaps like you, have been glued to Youtube to watch the inncomparable Susan Boyle bowl over Simon Cowell, the other judges and the audience on last weekend’s Britain’s Got Talent. (See the video on KJOY.com’s “Check It Out”.) She’s the 47 year old woman who came on the stage amid patronizing gaffaws from the judges and audience only to wow them with her voice from the angels. If this unassuming goddess doesn’t make you think twice about judging people too quickly than at least we can thank Ms. Boyle for being an inspiration to others who will not let age nor looks keep them from pursuing their dreams.
A big thanks to our heroes this week.
No one can argue that things are pretty tough these days, and people, perhaps your friends or family members, are going through some really difficult times as well. If you’re like me, you long for the fun times right now -those carefree days of our youth.
Now, with online social connections like Facebook, My Space and Twitter its so easy to relive the past with your friends from high school and college; as a matter of fact, getting in touch with my college radio friends on Facebook has brought back almost 20 years of many amazing memories that are so easy to forget as an overworked mommy/radio on-air personality! The first day of Spring officially begins on March 20th some days away. After a weekend of mild temperatures teasing of the weather ahead, I can officially say I have spring fever. I am so looking forward to taking a walk down the block without frost bite, bicycle riding with the girls, and opening up the windows and just enjoying some fresh air in the coming weeks. Most of all, I’m looking forward to seeing my Mets at their new home, Citifield. Read the rest of this entry »
If you remember President Obama’s inauguration speech last month, you might remember something about responsibility…accountability?
The past couple of weeks have truly reflected that need.
Just ask, Michael Phelps. Read the rest of this entry »
I think few people would argue that our new President is the most popular person in the world at this moment. Tuesday’s Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama and the fanfare that continued throughoutthe day and night won’t be forgotten for a very long time. Let’s face it, unless you’re Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity, our new President is the coolest guy (and his wife is the hottest first lady) on Planet Earth! Read the rest of this entry »
From CNN-video of plane landing on the Hudson River
It’s been quite a newsworthy week, as we get set for the holiday weekend, followed by the Inauguration of President Barack Obama on Tuesday.
The news, lately, has not been great…which is probably why this plane, and it’s pilot have become the biggest story of the week…nothing short of miraculous that all survived the crash into the chilly Hudson River this past Thursday afternoon.
Today, the Coast Guard and Mayor Bloomberg’s office released video of the plane landing into the Hudson. Here’s the link to watch and feel good that indeed there are still miracles happening in this sometimes cruel world!

So, are you sick of everyone’s New Years resolutions already?
Me too. Mainly, because resolutions are basically things I should be doing…everyday!
For example…the big one–lose weight and eat more healthy! Or how about this one: I resolve to be there more often for my family and especially for my children.
Why would you wait until the new year to do these? Read the rest of this entry »
