Presidential Nominees make me feel old

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

You know you have finally hit middle age when the Democratic Presidential nominee and the Republican Vice Presidential nominee are less than 10 years older than you. (more…)

Convention Time

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

After two weeks of watching the greatest athletes in the world at Beijing, its time to watch the real show people…no, not the new Beverly Hills 90120 show…but our elected officials headlining the Democratic and Republican Conventions this and next week. (more…)

MOOD: Burnt - In More Ways Than One

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Perhaps like you, I try to be the best, loving and responsible parent that I can.

But, why is it that after slathering on the 50+ sun block all over my kids before and during a outdoor park birthday party, I forget to take care of me?  My neck, face, arms and even parts of my ear are burnt as I write this today.  I’m so mad at myself for not thinking of…myself.  My dermatologist will not be happy.

I am also quite impatient for the holiday weekend as I would love some well-deserved time off to spend with my family. Although the summer of 2008 is coming to a close quite quickly, Labor Day weekend cannot come fast enough for me!

Olympic Dreams

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

So, just as I was about to go to sleep last night before 11pm and before I became even more hooked into the Olympic games, my six year old daughter, Zoë, came running into my bedroom.  “Mommy I had a bad dream about green slime zombie people!”, she cried as she crawled into bed with me.

Mood: Bleary-Eyed after American Idol Concert

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

On behalf of the KJOY staff, we hope that all our ticket winners had a great time at the American Idol shows this week at Nassau Coliseum.

Zoe, my six year old, and I went Tuesday and had a great long mommy/daughter day together.  It was Zoe’s first big kid concert - mine was Charlie Daniels, so she’s starting off way better than me…sorry, Charlie. (more…)

Birthday Blowout is Over!

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Well, the birthday blowout weekend is finally over!

My family is now recovering from the mass overload of presents for my 3 year old.  We had a great party for Jordan at a fun place and it seemed everyone had a fantastic time…especially me.

Now, I would share the beautiful pictures of my kids with you but I am waiting for someone to offer me 14 million dollars like Brad and Angie.  Hope you can wait that long!

Planning Children’s Birthday Parties

Friday, August 1st, 2008

As we prepare for Jordan’s birthday blowout, I just wanted to point out what I think is the most annoying part of modern day kid’s party planning….IMHO, it is definitely those party gift bags!

It took me almost two hours to (more…)
