Yes We Can

November 5th, 2008

I Took my Mom out  from the nursing home to give her a chance to vote at  the polls last night  for her chosen Candidate …… Obam-ba ( lol) which is how she pronounces  his name. I was very proud of my mom that she was excited to vote & had called me several times throughout the day to see if I was taking her. Read the rest of this entry »

Jersey Boys

November 4th, 2008

Jersey Boys is The Best show on Broadway…….I am confirming that in this blog .  My Brother came out from California  a few weekends ago & took me & my  Mom out to see the show. My Birthday is just a few days away so it was the ultimate gift for me since I have been wanting to see the show for a while. He got us floor seats  4th  row from the stage…. Amazing! The show captured the whole essence & story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons & how they came to be famous .

The story began with 4 guys from Jersey singing on the street corners to make a buck & a name for themselves. It’s the story also of 2 brothers in the group who had to go their separate ways… One was showing such talent &  promise & was maturing the other was going backwards & causing the group constant stress. There was gambling & racketeering & even some jail time shared by the members of  the band. The challenges to get their record heard on radio stations & their search for an  Agent , Girlfriends & Wives & marriages breaking up over the success of the group,   The show featured at least 30 of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons hits including: C’mon Marianne ,( their break out hit) Sherry, Ragdoll, Oh What A Night, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Who Loves You, , Walk Like A Man  & many other classics!

I  really enjoyed this true story come to life on the Big  Broadway Stage all about the life of  Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. I especially enjoyed the stories behind each song & how the inspiration was found. I was not aware that all of their songwriting  music & lyrics came from one guy in the band who shaped their destiny. He sometimes even sang with the group before later becoming their producer. The lead in the show was fantastic! He showed off an impressive 3 in a half octave range. He made the late great Andy Gibb sound like an alto compared to his range.

We all  waited patiently  for the stars of the show to come outside by the exit door to meet them.  My Brother snapped a picture with the lead who played Frankie Valli & myself . I  got some autographs too. While standing outside I spoke to a few people outside who told me they’ve seen the show 17 times each! Wow that’s some testimonial………

I’m convinced The ultimate Broadway Experience is Jersey Boys……….Experience it for yourself !!

Thanks for the Memories

September 29th, 2008

It’s a dark & dreary Sunday afternoon as I sit here at the computer blogging.  I’m still so saddened to learn about the death of Academy Award winning Actor, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist & Professional Race Car Driver. Paul Newman   who passed away on Friday at his Ranch home in Connecticut after losing his battle with cancer. Read the rest of this entry »

Life Happens

September 14th, 2008

Sorry I’ve slacked off a bit here on my blogs. Let’s just say life aboard “Wendy’s World” has been hectic.  You know how we remember…..to take out the trash twice a week & how we know when  it’s time to do the Laundry as it piles up? We know we need to  pay certain bills otherwise we lose our phone service,  We know we need to walk the dog or he’ll leave us a small token of his affection? etc. Well…..let’s just say  It’s tough to remember those things that are not so “daily” if you will .

I sort of forgot to renew my Registration …… Read the rest of this entry »

Ah… …vacations……….aren’t they the best? Just coming back from my first in 2 years!! I know there is definitely something wrong with me for not just stopping to take a break…. It certainly does take it’s toll on you…

I headed out to San Diego for a cousins wedding…It was very beautiful. She had a reggae band out on the water ………..so I requested Bob Marley’s “Brown Eyed Girl.” They wound up playing the Van Morrison tune “ Brown Eyed Girl” Yeah…….I guess they were new to the Reggae Playlist. Dark Night With Ledger: Superb!

July 21st, 2008

Who is possibly crazy enough to go out to a midnight movie? Yours truly. Me & my friend figured we’d have the theatre practically empty… It was almost a line long enough to get into a Rock Concert!  “The Dark Night” had virtually every show sold out from the afternoon through Midnight. I would never drag myself to a movie that late at night unless I felt it was really worth it. Let me me tell you. It was soooo worth it. Raking in 151 Million dollars this weekend at the box office surpassing Spiderman 3 !!!!! Read the rest of this entry »
